FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

MASSAGE AND EXERCISE THERAPY
COLORADO SPRINGS

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR MASSAGE

Traditional massage often focuses on relaxation and temporary relief. At Peak Recovery Therapy, we combine therapeutic massage, movement assessment, and corrective exercise to identify and address factors that may be contributing to pain, mobility restrictions, and recurring issues. The goal is not only to help you feel better, but to help you move and function better long term.

WILL THIS ACTUALLY HELP LONG TERM?

While every individual responds differently, our approach is designed to create lasting improvements rather than temporary relief alone. By combining manual therapy with movement and strength-based strategies, we aim to help reinforce positive changes and reduce the likelihood of the same problems continually returning.

DO I NEED TO STOP TRAINING WHILE I RECOVER?

Not necessarily. In many cases, continuing to move and train in an appropriate way can be an important part of recovery. Depending on your situation, modifications may be recommended, but our goal is usually to help you stay as active as possible while supporting the recovery process.

CAN THIS HELP EVEN IF PHYSICAL THERAPY OR CHIROPRACTIC DIDN'T?

Many clients come to us after trying other approaches without achieving the results they hoped for. While no treatment works for everyone, our combination of manual therapy, movement assessment, and corrective exercise often provides a different perspective that may help uncover contributing factors that were previously overlooked.

DO YOU WORK WITH CHRONIC PAIN? OR ONLY ATHLETES?

Both. While we work with many athletes and active individuals, we also help people dealing with chronic pain, stiffness, mobility limitations, recurring injuries, and movement restrictions that affect daily life. You do not need to be an athlete to benefit from treatment.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION?

Each session is tailored to the individual. Depending on your goals and needs, treatment may include therapeutic massage, orthopedic massage, trigger point therapy, stretching, joint mobility work, movement assessment, corrective exercise, and recommendations for recovery strategies you can use outside the clinic.

WILL I GET EXERCISES OR A PLAN TO WORK ON AT HOME?

When appropriate, yes. Many clients receive personalized exercises, recovery recommendations, or movement strategies designed to help reinforce the improvements made during treatment and support long-term progress between sessions.

CAN YOU HELP IF MY MRI OR SCANS CAME BACK "NORMAL"?

Many people experience pain despite imaging that does not show a clear structural problem. While imaging can provide valuable information, it does not always explain why someone is experiencing pain or movement limitations. Our assessment process looks at how your body moves and functions to identify potential contributing factors that may not appear on a scan.

HOW MANY SESSION WILL I NEED BEFORE I SEE IMPROVEMENTS?

This varies depending on the individual, the severity of the issue, and how long it has been present. Some clients notice meaningful improvements within the first few sessions, while more complex or long-standing issues may require a longer-term approach. Our goal is to help you make steady progress while providing tools that support lasting results.

DO YOU ONLY TREAT THE PAINFUL AREA?

Pain is not always caused by the area that hurts. We look at movement patterns, mobility restrictions, strength deficits, training demands, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to the problem. By addressing the bigger picture, we can often create more meaningful and lasting improvements than simply focusing on the painful area alone.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY

To help us serve all clients effectively, we ask for at least 24 business hours' notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 business hours' notice will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. No-shows and cancellations made within 2 hours of the scheduled appointment time will be charged the full session fee. Cancellation fees are the responsibility of the client and are not covered by insurance.

LATE ARRIVAL POLICY

To respect the schedules of all clients, appointment times cannot be extended for late arrivals. If you arrive late, your session will still end at the originally scheduled time, and the full session fee will apply.
